About

Hello.

My creative journey began in childhood, sparked by the beauty of the world around me and a natural desire to recreate the wonder I saw. This early fascination grew into a lifelong appreciation for artistic expression, eventually fueling a 36-year career in graphic design and business ownership. That rewarding chapter gave me a deep understanding of color and composition. Today, I have stepped away from rigid deadlines to embrace a more refreshing, grounded sense of peace.

My latest work reflects this intentional pace, serving as a calm, steady sanctuary within our fast-moving world. Creating has become a meditative and liberating process—a way to recharge and find balance. While my artistic range spans from fine detail to interpretive abstraction, at this stage of my life, I am leaning into a more instinctive and fluid approach.

By leaving the structure of commercial design behind, I’ve found a style that is rhythmic and wonderfully unscripted. This transition is about more than just painting; it is a lifestyle. I’ve learned to appreciate the unexpected textures and the organic path a painting takes when I let go of the need to control every movement, allowing each piece to settle into its own serene energy.

At the easel, I find genuine fulfillment in the flow of the work itself. I believe art is most vibrant when it is unburdened and allowed to develop without the weight of perfection. My practice is a reminder that we should always pursue our dreams and remain steadfast in our hope, even when life feels unpredictable. Rather than waiting for a distant goal, I am enjoying the present—one breezy, spontaneous brushstroke at a time.

"Delighted with my dog's watercolor portrait!
Charlene helped me pick out the best photo,
and I appreciated her guidance on choosing the
best size, and (in my case), choosing a background.
Her eye for detail, and obvious love for animals
shines through her pet portraits.  She captured one
of his most unique expressions perfectly.
Charlene is an outstanding artist,
and a joy to work with."

Watercolor Classes.

Featured here in these photos, students were acquainted with the basics during the Introduction to Watercolor class and encouraged to explore their potential.

Classes are offered in watercolor for beginner, intermediate, and masterclass levels.

Pour Painting Classes.

Charlene and her husband Anthony teach Pour Painting Classes to students who are looking for a

fun way to create a unique painting.  Students learn the basics of how to use pouring methods to make

flow art in acrylic paint on canvas.  In each class, Anthony shares his passion for the pouring process and the relaxation it brings.  Each student is encouraged to name their painting before pouring to see if the title matches the final look of the painting once done.
